Note du spécialiste

The present lot is an early example of Brouwer's cubist expressionist style, influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959). The seated monkeys were designed as garden statuettes, but were also used as architectural sculptures.

We kindly thank Mr. Erik Koopman, currently preparing a thesis on the artist, for his help in cataloguing the present lot.
