Specialist note
'Lamprey', a grey foaled in 1715, full brother to 'Bay Bolton', was bred by Sir Matthew Pierson at Lawthorpe, Yorkshire, and sold first to Thomas Panton of Newmarket and later resold in 1723 to Sir William Morgan. He won numerous races including the King's Plate in 1722 and 1723.
