Fresh to the market, the present watch is one of only four known examples to have come up for auction to date.

Reference 5170 offers a new look compared to its predecessor reference 5070. The tachymetre scale has been replaced by a 15 pulsation scale, found on some earlier chronographs from the vintage era, but also houses the latest calibre 29 535 PS with Patek Philippe's new hallmark of excellence, the PP Seal.

Reference 5170 was launched in 2010 and is so far only available in yellow gold.
