LOUIS VUITTON, EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Bound in leather and metal, with leather handle to front, the interior lined in green leather, with a green Moiré antique silk lid, leather compartments and straps to the sides for accessories, including, twelve glass containers, the silver metal lids each with a three feather insignia, one mirror, one glove stretcher, three brushes and one shoe horn all in tortishell, with gold tone metal feather insignia, a leather letter and writing pouch, self standing mirror and two personal grooming kits
9 x 24 x 17in. (23 x 61 x 43cm.)
The lock inscribed 'LOUIS VUITTON, 1. RUE SCRIBE PARIS, LONDON 149 NEW BOND STREET' and numbered '031439' the interior stamped in gilt with 'LOUIS VUTTON' partially illegible, and numbered '179274'

Specialist note

This suitcase is reputed to have come from a butler who worked at Fort Belvedere, the home of King Edward VIII. The three feather insignia on the interior fittings and accessories could well be the Prince of Wales feathers.
