Specialist note
The subject illustrated here appears to be Atropos, one of the Three Faites that decided a man's destiny. They assigned a man to good or evil. Clotho spun the thread of life, Lachesis measured the thread of life and Atropos cut the thread.
As been kindly pointed out by Kees Berserik, variants of this glass are in the Museum van het Heilig Bloed, Bruges; at Wilton, Wiltshire (W. Cole, A Catalogue of Netherlandish and North European Roundels in Britain, Oxford, 1993, no. 2467) and formerly in the Koenigs Collection, Haarlem.
