Note du spécialiste

Industrial clocks of this type, usually based on steam powered machinery, flourished at the end of the 19th century. Perhaps the most prolific producer was the French firm Guilmet.
The variety are discussed in Derek Roberts, Mystery, Novelty and Fantasy Clocks, Schiffer, 1999, p.253 - 270.
