lithograph, 1889, on canary yellow paper, a rare impression from the first edition, printed by E. Ancourt and published by the artist, Paris, the paper colour bright and fresh, with margins, in good condition

Specialist note

Mongan, Kornfeld and Joachim estimate the size of the first edition at around thirty impressions, and certainly no more than fifty. They cite 19 impressions of the first edition of Pastorales Martinique, 13 of which are in public collections. To our knowledge no other impressions have been offered at auction in the last 25 years.
