A VICTORIAN LEATHER COACHING NECK HARNESS WITH SILVER-PLATED MOUNTS
PROBABLY LATE 19TH CENTURY
The two ring handles centred by an earl's coronet raised on a pedestal, the mounts with a coat-of-arms below a monogram OK
16½ in. (42 cm.) long

Specialist note

The arms are for Pelham with a coat of augmentation for Anderson impaling Hare, for the marriage, in 1858, of Charles Anderson Pelham, later 3rd Earl of Yarborough (1862-1875) to Lady Victoria Alexandrina Hare, daughter of the 2nd Earl of Listowel. It is probable that the intials relate to the horse for which this harness was used.
