Although he worked in a wide variety of medium van Logteren was primarily known as 'statuarius', as he executed numerous sculptures for country houses and gardens in the neighbourhood of Amsterdam. His style developed from that of Artus Quellinus and Rombout Verhulst but was also influenced by some of the more recent developments in Italy, France and Flanders; it is characterized by classicism, combined with a strongly personal and harmonious lyricism.
