James Fitton, R.A. (1899-1982)

'Fitton's later paintings are more illustrative and humorous. Street and cafeteria scenes provided him with an endless source of fascinating material. He delighted in the arrangement of torn posters on a battered wall or scribbled prices displayed in a shop window.'
