Richmond Elks Lodge No. 45 is part of B.P.O.E. - the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. They have had a presence in Richmond, Virginia since February 20th, 1886.
B.P.O.E. is a fraternal order with nearly a million members and 2000 lodges in communities all over the United States. They were founded in New York City on February 16th, 1868 under the name Jolly Corks by five actors and entertainers associated with the theater. In the years that followed, their membership expanded to other professions.
