Cal. 1570 automatic movement, 26 jewels, black matte dial, luminous dot, baton, and dagger numerals, luminous mercedes-style hands, aperture for date, center seconds, tonneau-shaped water-resistant-type case, revolving black bezel calibrated for 60 units, gas escape valve in the band, screw back engraved Rolex Oyster Gas Excape Valve (Patent Pending), screw down crown with crown guards, later stainless steel Rolex Oyster link bracelet and flip lock deployant clasp, case, dial and movement signed

Specialist note

The present Double Red Sea-Dweller features the designation Rolex Oyster Gas Escapement Valve (Patent Pending) with Rolex engraved across the case back as seen on the early models of this iconic dive watch. The present example has a 1.7 million serial number with a Mark II dial. The print is bright red and crisp with the font smaller on the second line. The case interior reads 1665 and iv.67.
