Specialist note

Désirée Clary, one-time fiancée of Napoleon Bonaparte, was Queen of Sweden as consort of King Charles XIV John (see lot 278).
The present miniature is inspired by Robert Lefèvre's full-length oil painting in the Royal Palace, Stockholm.
