Note du spécialiste

The firm of Phene & Williamson is recorded on New Broad Street from 1822-40 as cabinetmakers, upholsterers and auctioneers, but the apparently extensive business also included appraisals and the sale of Turkey carpets and iron safes (G. Beard and C. Gilbert, Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660-1840, Leeds, 1986, pg. 693.).
