Note du spécialiste

Thomas Simpson is recorded as painter of fruit and flowers at Minton and Coalport in the second half of the 19th century. Vases painted with his 'natural flowers' were presented in the 1873 Vienna Exhibition. See P. Atterbury and M. Batkin, The Dictionary of Minton, Suffolk, 1990, p. 300. This form is usually associated with Minton's pâte-sur-pâte wares, indicating the factory likely thought these of the highest caliber.
