The removable rectangular tray with berried-laurel handles, held aloft by four triton supports, the rectangular top over a conforming frieze centered on each side with a ribbon-tied and ivy entwined thyrsus, on four classically-draped female terms joined by a pierced stretcher with central basket mount, on tapering toupie feet, the tray support signed F. Specialist note

Drawing room furnishings, such as lots 62 and 63, were widely produced by François Linke's firm in a variety of imaginative designs. Index number 1455 is an intriguing marriage of both Louis XV and Louis XVI styles, borrowing elements from Linke's Table à thé Louis XV (index number 610) and his Table Louis XVI Marie-Antoinette (index number 114). The resulting design simultaneously pays homage to Adam Weisweiler's genius a century earlier while also embracing Messagé's exaggerated interpretation of Rococo forms.
