The hinged rectangular top raised on four basket-bearing caryatid supports, joined by an 'X'-shaped stretcher centered with a floral bouquet, the lockplate stamped HD/PARIS above an anchor

Specialist note

The present lot is inspired by the celebrated lacquer-decorated dressing-table by Adam Weisweiler delivered in 1784 to the Château de Saint-Cloud for Marie-Antoinette's cabinet intérieur. It was later brought by Empress Eugènie to the Tuileries Palace and placed in her audience room, the salon bleu.
