A SET OF TEN 'NICKEL' PATINATED STEEL 'FLORET' WALL APPLIQUES

Born in New Zealand in 1956, Mark Brazier-Jones moved to England with his family in the 1960s. In London he attended art college where he furthered his knowledge of not only drawing but constructing three-dimensional sculptures. Mark emerged as a designer-maker in the early 1980s as part of the 'Creative Salvage Group' and inspired by the reception he received, he began developing his functional art. He now lives in Hertfordshire where he creates his collections of sophisticated, futuristic furniture and objects. The diversity of his production trespasses into the worlds of the classical, the surreal and the theatrical; commentators on contemporary design often struggle to categorize his style variously referring to it as 'neo-classical', 'space age baroque' or even 'post nuclear antiques'.
