Views of Simla. London: Dickinson, 1846. 2° (539 x 365mm). Additional hand-coloured lithographic title, 23 plates after Thomas and one map. (Occasional light soiling, pl. 12 'Fancy Fair at Annadale' chipped, frayed and soiled at margins with loss of caption, pl. 15 'On the Road to the Chor' with chipped fore-edge margin repaired to verso, 3 other plates with minor marginal tears with repairs to versos, a couple of other plates cut-down and slightly smaller, typographic title lightly creased with short tear without loss.) Recent cloth, preserving contemporary gilt leather labels to upper cover and spine (extremities lightly rubbed, hinges repaired).

FIRST EDITION. Captain George Powell Thomas was in the 64th. Regiment Bengal Infantry. This series of views was certainly a private commission from Dickinson & Co. Abbey Travel 470.
