A WHITEWOOD ZIGZAG CHAIR
Designed by Gerrit Th. Rietveld in 1932, executed in the 1950s
Composed of four tapering rectangular sections held together by screws and dove-tail joints
78 cm. high x 38 cm. wide x 40 cm. deep

Purchased directly from Gerrit Th. Rietveld in the 1950s by the present owner, the architect J.A. van den Berg, when they cooperated on the design of the Julianahal at the Koninklijke Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, built between 1953-1956.

Specialist note

Another zigzag chair from the same collection was sold in these rooms, Christie's Amsterdam, 18 November 2003, lot 334 (nlg. 8,962,50).
