Specialist note

A related mirror attributed to Johann Friedrich Funk I (1706-1775) with foliate cartouches on a similarly cross-hatched ground and rocaille cresting is illustrated in: Hermann von Fischer, Fonck a Berne, 2001, p. 220, pl. 399. An over-door cresting comparably pierced and carved with rocaille centred by a floral spray can be seen on p. 235, pl. 455.

Similar mirrors attributed to the Swiss sculptor Johann Friedrich Funk I (1706-1775) are also illustrated in the same text on p. 220-3 and 226-7.
