Decorated at the centre in enamels and gilt with a bearded man holding a parasol for a lady beneath a prunus tree, surrounded by an underglaze-blue trellis band with cartouches of a butterfly, a bat, and an insect

Specialist note

For a similar example, see D.S. Howard, Choice of the Private Trader, London, 1994, p.57, pl. 30. This design is reminiscent of the pattern known as 'La Dame au Parasol', which was created by Cornelis Pronk over ten years later.
