This picture was taken in an alleyway (Bridges Place) off St Martin's Lane (between Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square for Vogue's Young Idea feature. Nena was first discovered in Sweden by Norman Parkinson when she was 15 years old. She went on to become one of the most successful models of the 1960s modeling for many photographers besides Parkinson including William Klein, Melvin Sokolsky and Richard Avedon. Nena has be married for many years to Buddhist scholar and ex-monk Robert Thurman and is the mother of actress Uma Thurman. (2)
