David Cox, Sen., O.W.S. (Birmingham 1783-1859)

Cox exhibited seven views of Harlech Castle at the Old Water-Colour Society, and two comparable watercolours were sold in these Rooms, 9 June 2005, lot 48, and 10 December 2008, lot 23. These highly finished watercolours by Cox date from the 1830s when he was executing works for engraving.
