Having read journalism at Taiwan's National Chengchi University, Wang worked at Taiwan Shin Sheng Daily Newspaper as a reporter. In this capacity Wang met and interviewed a wide range of prominent figures from all walks of life, including Zhang Daqian, Hu Shi and Yu Youren (see illustrated). From 1970, he worked for the China Television Company Limited in Taiwan. Wang settled in the United States after his retirement in 1995.

Specialist note

Jin Yong, formerly known as Zha Liang-yong was born in Hai Ning in Zhejiang Province. He is a Chinese martial arts fiction writer and the honorary vice-chairman of the Chinese Writers Association. Since Jin Yong moved to Hong Kong in 1948, he has many notable achievements - founder of Ming Pao; one of the main drafters of the Basic Law for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China; awardee of the Grand Bauhinia Medal, the highest honour bestowed by the government in Hong Kong. Jin Yong, Gu Long and Liang Yu Sheng form the three gurus of martial arts fiction. Jin Yong wrote fifteen novels.
