LIN FENGMIAN (1900-1991)

This painting was formerly in the collection of Brian and Cyrille Brett, who lived in Rio de Janerio from 1962. In Rio, Cyrille met Madame Lin, "a tall, thin lady who earned money by giving French lessons, of great integrity and spiritual strength", and they immediately formed a close bond. Paintings by Lin Fengmian were sold by Madame Lin as a means of income to support the family, and Cyrille bought several paintings from Madame Lin.
