Specialist note

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with tachometer scale in 1943 and its subsequent sale on July 11 of the following year.

Bought by the current owner some 15 years ago, this reference 1579 is preserved in very appealing condition and is as contemporary and attractive today for a collector as when it was launched in the 1940s. Reference 1579 is a superb and unusual model within the Patek Philippe family of chronograph timepieces as highlighted by the distinct, faceted lugs and generous diameter, surpassing its better known peer, the reference 130, by a notable 3 millimeters.

Fitted with the 13 lignes chronograph movement, it is not only a superb collector's watch but also a wonderful timepiece to use on a daily basis due to the fascinating case design, its notable proportions and clean dial design. The present example was purchased by the present owner at Christie's New York, Mel Blanc Collection sale October 29, 1997 (lot 245).
