The galleried superstructure with a beveled glass door enclosing a velvet-lined interior, above a vernis Martin decorated cupboard door enclosing a single shelf, flanked by a pair of bowed glazed doors, above a floral-festooned frieze, on square tapering legs joined by two undertiers and a lattice backboard, on toupie feet, the lockplates stamped CT LINKE/SERRURERIE/PARIS, the key stamped 673

Specialist note

Recorded under the title Meuble crédence, guirlandes dans la ceinture, panneau vernis Martin, François Linke conceived index number 75 at a particularly early stage in his career. The original design, circa 1885, appears to have been available in two versions, though Linke's daybook notations do not fully establish the exact variations. The last example of this model was produced in 1908 and appears in Linke's green registre as order number 1107. A pair of vitrines, assumed to be the 'simple' version without the present undertier, was sold A Private Collection: Volume I, Sotheby's, New York, 26 October 2006, lot 156.
