A JEALOUSY GLASS ETUI COMPENDIUM
ENGLISH, CIRCA 1760
Ribright pattern, but unsigned, the brass tube covered with green stained shagreen, scissors, penknife and ivory amongst accessories, two glass lenses at both ends.
4½in. (11.5cm.) long

Specialist note

Based on Thomas Ribright's 1749 patent for "making small perspective glasses with mathematical & other instruments and tweezers in one and the same case, both with and without Microscopes or Magnifying Glasses". This example has a jealously glass, though it is lacking a lens and the mirror.
