Born in 1720, Carl Augustin Grenser is considered one of the greatest woodwind makers of the 18th century German School. The Patriarch of a long line of revered woodwind makers who worked in Saxony, Grenser's instruments were among the best in Europe. Not only was Grenser seen as a meticulous and creative craftsman, he was also known as an accomplished musician. His surviving instruments are revered for their exceptional workmanship as well as their intonation and splendid tone.
