Four full-length in profile in giltwood frames depicting four children of Henry Beauchamp Lygon, 4th Earl Beauchamp: Lady Felicia, later Mrs. Charles Cavendish (d. 1848), Lady Georgina (d. 1865), later wife of 2nd Baron Raglan, Lord Henry, later 5th Earl Beauchamp (1829-66) and Lord Frederick, later 6th Earl Beauchamp (1830-91), pencil and watercolour;
Two full-length silhouettes in ebonised reeded frames attributed to Augustin Edouart (1789-1861), depicting Lady FitzRoy Somerset & her daughter Emily Cecily Somerset at Brighton, 1828; and another lady, probably her elder daughter Charlotte Somerset, both with label to the reverse for Edward Piercy, 17 Tichbourne Street, Golden Square, Picture Dealer, Carver & Gilder

Specialist note

Edward Piercy is recorded as Carver & Gilder at Tichbourne Street, Golden Square in 1832-3.
Auguste Edouart was born in Dunkirk and established in London by 1814, initially making portraits from hair. In 1825 he began work as a silhouette portraitist, creating full-length likenesses in profile by cutting out black paper with scissors. Edouart spent fifteen years touring England and in 1829 arrived in Edinburgh. He remained there for three years, during which time he produced some five thousand works. His sitters included the exiled French royal family of Charles X and many leading figures of Scottish society, including writer Sir Walter Scott and artist William Dyce.
