Specialist note
Some constructional elements of these elegant chairs are evocative of those of the leading London cabinet-makers Mayhew and Ince. The rounded flowerhead panels to the top of the legs and the fluted seatrails are characteristics attributable to the firm of Mayhew and Ince, however, the arms are not joined directly at the top of the legs but at the middle of the seat, a feature more commonly found in Thomas Chippendale's designs.
