After the battle of Waterloo, Lord FitzRoy Somerset returned to Paris. He had been there between Napoleon's first abdication and the 100 days, as secretary to Wellington as ambassador. He remained at the embassy until 1818, when the allied armies were withdrawn from France. Two of his children were born in Paris - his sons Arthur in 1816 and Richard, later 2nd Baron Raglan in 1817.
