The ebonised strung and crossbanded top with gadrooned border above two doors inlaid and decorated with scrolling acanthus, enclosing a shelf, on bracket feet

Specialist note

This commode was probably inspired directly from Percy Macquoid's The Age of Satinwood, published in 1908, which illustrates this model as belonging to Lady Russel.
