Die Hügellandschaft des Emmentals war ein beliebtes Motiv für Cuno Amiet. Er brachte sie immer wieder von einem erhöhten Standpunkt aus auf die Leinwand. Amiet rang unermüdlich um das Verhältnis zwischen Abbild und Abstraktion und räumte der Farb- und Bildraumproblematik einen zentralen Platz in seinem Schaffen ein. Die Lueg ist ein in der Nähe seines Hauses auf der Oschwand gelegener Aussichtspunkt mit Weitsicht auf die Berner Alpen.

Amiet struggled untiringly with the relationship between image and abstraction and granted a central place in his works to the colour and pictorial space problem. The Lueg is a lookout point, close to his home in Oschwand, with distant views of the Bernese Alps.
