The present watch is a very early example of a watch made for the Argentine Navy, featuring the engraving Marina Argentina on the cuvette and the case back, the back with the later engraved Navegacion followed by the military issue number 60638-Ci.
E.H. Jaccard & Cie. were founded in Geneva in 1850. The firm produced simple and complicated watches as well as pocket chronometers with Bulletins d'Observatoire. Their specialty were watches with twin escapements, tourbillon carriages and astronomical timepieces.
