Nickel-finished jewelled lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, micrometer regulator, wolf's tooth winding, silver cuvette engraved Marina Argentina, Chronometro, white enamel dial, Roman numerals, blued steel spade hands, outer Arabic five minute divisions, subsidiary seconds, circular case, hinged back also engraved Marina Argentina, Chronometro and with the military number Navegacion 60638-Ci, large pink gilt ball-shaped crown and pink gold three-part hinges, case, cuvette and movement signed and numbered, movement also signed Marina Argentina Cronometro, dial signed

Specialist note

The present watch is a very early example of a watch made for the Argentine Navy, featuring the engraving Marina Argentina on the cuvette and the case back, the back with the later engraved Navegacion followed by the military issue number 60638-Ci.

E.H. Jaccard & Cie. were founded in Geneva in 1850. The firm produced simple and complicated watches as well as pocket chronometers with Bulletins d'Observatoire. Their specialty were watches with twin escapements, tourbillon carriages and astronomical timepieces.
