Zdzislaw Ruszkowski (1907-1991)

'The central figures are my mother and myself [the artist's daughter]. It was greatly admired by John Berger - art critic of The New Stateman at the time' (private correspondence, 2 June 2011). This painting was one of the first bought by Laughton.
