Back of shoe with engraved diaperwork panel decorated with leaf motifs and scrolls, front of shoe similarly engraved below an applied buckle set with foiled emeralds and engraved with a bow, the hinged cover chased in relief with a warrior and a leaping horse within a frame of pink-foiled gems, gilt interior, struck with maker's mark in cover, the heel with separate hinged vinaigrette compartment, an engraved band along base of heel, engraved behind hinge of cover with initials M.E.F
