pencil, pen and brown ink and watercolour with gum arabic and with scratching out
7 x 10 1/8 in. (17.8 x 25.7 cm.)

with Michael Bryan, London, 1983, where purchased by the present owner.

Specialist note

A similar watercolour also depicting weary fishermen at Dover hauling in their catch as the sun sets beyond, on a larger scale and dated 1841, was sold in these Rooms, 21 November 2007, lot 74.
