FIRST EDITION of Wessing's powerful document of the Pinochet coup. An 'extremely elegant photobook', each image 'carefully considered, modest and succinct... despite the difficulties of taking photographs in such a tense and difficult situation' (The Photobook). Roland Barthes used images from this work in Camera Lucida to illustrate his discussion of image making. A retrospective of Wessing's work is currently taking place at Santiago's GAM.
