Specialist note

Responding to the unpretentious informality that began to characterise Finnish design in the 1960s, the assymetrical, restless surfaces of Weckström's gold jewellery had been inspired by the coarseness of natural gold nuggets found in his native Lappland. Weckström's new sculptural forms were able to inaugurate a new expressive sensibility to jewellery design.
