Lots 378 and 379 were in the collections at Milton Abbey, the Dorset home of the Earls of Dorchester. Designed by the architect Sir William Chambers, Milton Abbey was built in 1744 in the Gothic style to compliment the adjacent church. The interiors remained largely original until the contents were sold on the premises by Phillips Son and Neale.
