Specialist note
For another vase signed C. Roger with similar enameling attributed to Milet, see Christie's, New York, 25 October 2005, lot 189. Optat Milet, a French ceramic modeller and decorator was employed at the Sèvres factory (1862-79). He established his own studio in 1875 or 1877. He was known for his experimental glazes including titanium yellow and crystalline.
