Specialist note

This celebrated table-pattern was almost certainly conceived by the marchand-mercier Dominique Daguerre. Almost exclusively executed by Adam Weisweiler (maître in 1778), the form is first depicted in a contemporary drawing now in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.
Edwards and Roberts, who retailed this gueridon, were established at 21 Wardour Street in the 1840s as 'Antique and Modern cabinet-makers and importers of ancient furniture.'
