This painting is thought to be originally the left half of the left screen of a pair. For the right half of the pair in the collection of Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs, see Tokubetsu tenrankai: Kano Eitoku Special Exhibition: Kano Eitoku (Kyoto: Kyoto National Museum, 2007), pl. 63. The artist is thought to be someone in Eitoku's circle.
