CASE: ripple moulding to arched hood, arched trunk door and panelled plinth on double skirting, the seatboard stamped 'T. N. LOWTHER' DIAL: 10 in. wide shallow-arched silvered latched dial of regulator format with hour aperture and signed 'J. P. Saddleton Lynn', blued steel hands MOVEMENT: substantial shouldered plates joined by six vase pillars, maintaining power, end caps to high count train, wheels with six crossings and screwed collets, Graham-type deadbeat escapement with jewelled pallets and beat adjustment, front plate punch numbered '6238' to front and to upper edge; mercury jar pendulum (jar lacking), painted brass weight

Specialist note

James Parlett Saddleton was married in 1798. He is recorded as working in Kings Lynn 1801-1845.
Thomas Lowther was a case maker working in Red Lion Street Clerkenwell, London circa 1820-1832. His stamp is a distinctive mark and can be seen on other longcase regulators including a fine mahogany example by Frodsham which sold anonymously, Christie's London, 5 July 2005, lot 75 (£20,400).
