A Dutch silver-mounted fish-skin VOC note-book
Amsterdam, probably 1774, maker's mark 'IS', also stamped 'LAPRO'
Rectangular, fish skin over wooden boards, the front and back cover with central shaped oval plaque depicting an East Indiaman with V.O.C. flag enclosed by scroll and shells, two silver clasps with monogram V.O.C.R. (Rotterdam) and a silver stylus connecting the clasp and functioning as a catch
13.7 x 8 cm.

Specialist note

Jan La Pro was a bookkeeper working for the VOC.
