The centre engraved with coat-of-arms within foliate surround, the pierced foliate border embellished with beaded 'C'-scrolls and leafage, on cast openwork bracket feet

The armorial is the quartered arms of Watkins-Meysey of Shakenhurst

Charles Watkins Meysey (d. 1774) and thence by descent.

Specialist note

Charles Watkins Meysey, the son of Anne Meysey and Rev. Richard Watkins, was baptised Charles Watkins. He married Anna-Maria Meysey, daughter of the Rev. Thomas Meysey and in 1764, he assumed the name Meysey upon succeeding to Shakenhurst.
