A CHARLES I OAK LIVERY CUPBOARD
EARLY 17TH CENTURY
Carved overall with foliage, interlocking scroll and bold gadrooning, the central cupboard door applied with a Green Man mask and flanked by angled foliate marquetry panels, above a long drawer, on bulbous column supports with undertier and cabochon feet, chalk inscription to reverse 'Patterson' (sic)
51¼ in. (130 cm.) high; 48 in. (122 cm.) wide; 18½ in. (47 cm.) deep

St Peter and St Paul Church, Hambledon, Hampshire

This cupboard was in the Vicarage during the time of Rev. B. Patteson, Vicar of Hambledon 1841-1881. It was offered to the church in the 1960's by Mary Patteson, widow of his great-grandson John Patteson. A Faculty has now been granted for it's removal and sale by auction.
