Francis Criss (1901-1973)

Francis Criss painted Morning in Florence while studying mural painting in Europe on a Guggenheim fellowship. The artist chose to include himself in the present work, dressed in a white suit and leaning against a bridge. A larger version of the present work is currently in a private collection, New York.
